ScaleCalculator is a free website that converts measurements between scales. You enter a real or model size, pick the scales and read the result at once. It includes a scale converter with 46 ready-made presets, 25 calculators for individual scales, a scale factor calculator, a 3D-print resize calculator, a map scale calculator, a conversion chart and an on-screen scale ruler.
Who it is for
Plastic modellers and figure painters, model railroaders (HO, N, O, Z and other gauges), diecast collectors, architecture students and anyone reading a drawing or a map. The tools are free to use and need no sign-up.
How the results are calculated
Every result comes from the same formula: a scale of 1:N means the model is N times smaller than the real object. Unit factors are exact (1 inch = 25.4 mm). The formulas, rounding rules and the standards behind each scale are listed on the methodology and sources page.
Languages
The site is available in English, Italian, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Japanese. The other language versions are translated from the English text. If something reads wrong in your language, please tell us.
